ANM Lighting for VFX

Welcome!
Today we covered the basics of how to light a green-screen for compositing.  It takes a little bit of time and effort to assure the green doesn't bleed onto the subject!

Over the next few weeks we will go over the proper use of lighting and grip gear and the basics of how to light a subject to achieve the lighting effects to match a background plate shot.
Here on this blog I will add some short videos and photographs to further demonstrate concepts that we cover in class every week.
I would like you get a good pair of gloves and a flashlight for tools.

Here is a great example of a mix of VFX, Helicopter, Crane and a moving camera car with 8 cameras shooting a scene that blends seamlessly into a one-take long dramatic shot from the film War of the Worlds.

Ill add some scenes that I would like you to look at that may be a bit more our speed that we can shoot in class.

I would like to invite you to my Grad Lighting class to get an idea of how a crew works together to achieve lighting effects outdoors. In next few weeks we will discuss shooting a plate shot for a moving vehicle that we will eventually green-screen and composite in our class.
The exterior lighting class meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 3:30 at 601 Brannen street parking lot, I will inform you when we set up for a greenscreen shoot. Today we are shooting greenscreen and will attempt to shoot tomorrow as well, come to both if you want. Call time will be around 4PM. Check your LMS I sent an email detailing this.
See you all next week in class!
